Temporary contracts will be issued to teachers holding a valid Indiana Teaching Certificate to replace teachers on leaves of absence.  Reasons for such leaves may include professional advancement, military service, exchange teaching, and temporary disability.

Temporary contracts shall contain all the provisions of a regular teacher’s contract on a prorated basis except those providing for continued tenure of position.  Employment on a temporary contract for a period of six (6) months or more shall entitle the teacher upon request to all credit with respect to the State’s Teacher's Retirement Fund.  The expiration date of such contracts shall be the date of the return of the teacher on leave of absence, but in no case later than the end of the school year.
