Board Policies

Adoption Date: Sep 25, 1996
Revision Date: Dec 09, 2009

The Board recognizes that it is vital to the successful operation of the Corporation that positions created by the Board are filled with qualified and competent staff.

The Superintendent shall approve the employment, and also, when not covered by the terms of a Board approved agreement, establish the term of employment for each support staff member employed by this Corporation.  The Corporation will only employ personnel who have at least a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.  Student workers may be employed while completing their high school education.

All applications for employment shall be referred to the Personnel Office.

Any support staff member's intentional misstatement of fact material to qualifications for employment or the determination of salary shall be considered by this Board to constitute grounds for dismissal.

Immediate family members of staff members may be employed by the Board provided the staff member being employed is not placed in a position in which s/he would be supervised by the immediate family staff member. “Immediate family” shall be interpreted as spouse, children, parents, parents of spouse, child of spouse, sibling and sibling of spouse. Other relatives living in the same household as the employee shall also be considered “immediate family”. Under special circumstances this requirement may be waived by the Superintendent. The Superintendent will notify the Board of any special circumstances as they occur.

When appropriate, no candidate for employment as a support staff member shall receive recommendation for such employment without having proffered visual evidence of his/her certification or pending application for certification.

Guidelines shall be developed for the recruitment and selection of all support staff.
