News Blog Category - News Marion Regional Career Center is now a Microsoft Imagine Academy, able to provide students with real-world technology skills needed to thrive in the 21st Century economy.

MRCC joins an exclusive group of programs certified as Microsoft Imagine Academies, a group that includes only about 15,000 school programs in the world.

“We’re committed to providing our students with the most up-to-date knowledge and skills so they can pursue higher education and secure jobs that contribute to the economy and their communities,” said Travis Hueston, MRCC’s Microsoft Imagine Academy instructor. “Our membership in the Microsoft Imagine Academy program enables us to provide a road map to technology proficiency and industry-recognized Microsoft Certification credentials, keeping pace with what today’s employers are looking for and setting our students up for future success. Not only will this program provide our students with more than $35,000 worth of free computer certifications, but it will also include another $25,000 worth of IT software upgrades for the Academy.”

MRCC’s Microsoft Imagine Academy is open to all participating schools in Grant County. Interested students should contact their counselor or the Marion Regional Career Center at (765) 664-9091.

Microsoft Imagine Academy is a comprehensive program that supports ongoing technology education for students, teachers, and other education professionals spanning computer basics to high-level programming, along with cloud and infrastructure management using Microsoft technologies.

“Microsoft is committed to empowering students and teachers around the world to reach their full potential,” said Alison Cunard, general manager for Microsoft Learning Experience. “By combining education and cutting-edge technology, the Microsoft Imagine Academy helps enable success and prosperity in an evolving global economy.”

At MRCC, Microsoft Imagine Academy will provide a convenient and flexible learning environment where students can get hands-on experience with the latest technology to gain a competitive edge in today’s job market or the next step in their academics. The Academy fits into MRCC’s already robust IT education options, as the career center offers every IT pathway the state Department of Education allows. Students in MRCC’s IT pathway programs can earn 9 to 12 dual college credits, depending on which pathway they choose.

MRCC’s membership in the Microsoft Imagine Academy was made possible at no additional cost to the school corporation thanks to a grant from Microsoft, facilitated by the Indiana Department of Education.
