6150AG - NON-RESIDENT STUDENT ADMISSION ADMINISTRATIVE GUIDELINES

The Corporation will accept students who reside outside of its district’s boundaries on a cash tuition basis under the following conditions:

 

  1. The student must have maintained at least a “C” average (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) for his/her previous two years of school enrollment. This must be substantiated by the student’s transcript.

 

  1. The student must not have been suspended out of school or expelled from school for his/her previous two years of school attendance. This must be substantiated by a letter from a school official at the student’s previous school.

 

  1. No non-resident student will be permitted to enroll at a Marion Community School which has adverse teacher/pupil ratio as established by the administrative team. The Superintendent/Designee along with the building administrators will cooperatively make this determination.

 

  1. The Corporation reserves the right to determine which school the non-resident student may attend. The Superintendent/Designee along with the building administrators will cooperatively make this determination.

 

  1. The Corporation will not provide transportation for non-resident students. Transportation will be the parents’ or students’ responsibility.

 

  1. Non-resident student’s school fees must be paid no later than the ADM count day established by the Indiana Department of Education. Non-resident students whose school fees have not been paid at the end of the school day on ADM count day will be withdrawn from school.

 

  1. Non-resident students who fail to maintain a “C” average or who are suspended or expelled may be denied further attendance in the Corporation.

 

  1. Students who attended the Corporation during the previous school year will be given preference over new applicants.

 

  1. Parent should submit in writing a letter to the superintendent stating the student’s name, grade levels for the year requested, and the name of the school which the student attended last year.

 

  1. The Superintendent/Designee will review all non-resident student transfer requests and make a determination on a case by case basis when necessary.
