All onsite students will have at-home e-learning days every Friday during the first semester. More information about e-learning Fridays can be reviewed below.
(Giant Online Academy students: This e-learning information does not necessarily apply to you. GOA teachers will continue to provide instructions for their students. If you have questions about Friday expectations for your GOA student, please contact your teacher.)
For e-learning day there will be 5 assignments:
- social/emotional learning (SEL)
- science or social studies (these will alternate each week).
Assignments will be posted by 9 a.m. on Friday. These assignments will be graded and recorded for your student.
KINDERGARTEN: Kindergarten students will not be bringing iPads home this week. Kindergarten students will have a paper packet to complete this Friday as we continue to prepare them to complete work on the iPads.
E-learning days are counted as a school day, and attendance will be taken and recorded. Student work must be completed by Monday morning prior to school starting to be counted as present for our e-learning day. If work is not completed, your student will be marked as absent. (Kindergarten students will need to turn in their completed paper packet on Monday morning.)
Assignments will require Internet access. If you don't have home wi-fi, here are some access points that are available for you to use to get assignments completed:
- Wi-fi can be accessed in the parking lots at all Marion Community Schools school buildings. Student iPads will connect automatically.
- Some local restaurants offer free wi-fi
- Marion Public Library (when open)
Students should bring their iPads back to school with them on Monday. Student's iPads are used in classrooms every day, and it is important that they return with the student on Monday so that they can participate in class.
