The Chronicle-Tribune takes a look at school security in the wake of recent high-profile school shootings.

“Incidents of school shootings get a lot of media attention, which would lead people to feel that it has become more prevalent. I believe that we should take every opportunity to learn from these situations, to take a look at our own policies and procedures and see where we can make changes to improve what we are doing, utilizing best practices and advice from our emergency responder partners, to keep kids safe," Marion Community Schools Safety Director Justine Pond told the C-T. "Having a response plan in place is important, but it is also very important that we focus attention on prevention by creating policies and procedures that help to create that safe and supportive environment for all students.”
