Kate and Bryce Conway, who teach English and choir, respectively, here at Marion High School, have stepped into new roles in the community: theater stars!
The two play leading roles in Marion Civic Theater's production of the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, an evening of madcap merriment.
Set in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount from Kansas (played by Kate Conway), who comes to New York in search of a new life for herself. Her grand plan is to find a job as a secretary for a wealthy man and then marry him. However, her plan goes completely awry. Her wealthy boss is slow in proposing marriage and the man she actually falls in love with (Jimmy Smith, played by Bryce Conway) doesn't have a dime to his name... or so he tells her. (Click here for more information about the show.)
The quirky love story is perfect for the Conways, who are married and both outstanding singers. To our talented teachers we say: "Break a leg!"
You can catch the show at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 16, 17, 23, or 24; and at 2 p.m. Aug. 18 and 25. Tickets are $17 for adults, $14 for seniors and students, and can be bought online (click here) or by calling the Civic box office at 765-688-7800.
