Marion Community Schools was informed Friday, Oct. 30, that three students who were last at Frances Slocum Elementary School on Tuesday, Oct. 27, have been diagnosed as COVID-19 positive.
At the elementary level, with the difficulty of enforcing consistent social distancing, Marion Community Schools utilizes cohorting (keeping groups of students together and avoiding cross contact as much as possible). Because of this, our plans have included quarantining entire classrooms in the event of a positive COVID diagnosis.
Following this plan, in connection with these three positive cases, 53 other students, nine staffers, and one student teacher have been informed and instructed to quarantine. (Click here for current COVID-19 quarantine information.)
All of the affected students will have online or paper options for continuing their learning during the quarantine period.
Marion Community Schools will continue to work closely with the Grant County Health Department to monitor, verify, and communicate as needed.
