Publish Date: 01/24/2022

Marion Community Schools has been informed that a preschool student who was last at Frances Slocum Elementary School on Friday, Jan. 21, has been diagnosed as COVID-19 positive. In connection with this case, the families of 16 other preschool students were informed and provided with quarantine and symptom monitoring instructions.

In addition, four students who were last at McCulloch Junior High School on Friday, Jan. 21, have been diagnosed as COVID-19 positive. One Marion High School student last here on Friday, Jan. 21, has also been diagnosed as COVID-19 positive.

In alignment with current guidance from state health officials for schools with mask requirements, no quarantines are required unless symptoms develop. Therefore, we are no longer investigating and notifying school-based close contacts. We ask all families to remain watchful for any COVID-19 related symptoms and to keep students home if they feel unwell.
