Kendall’s next skating party is this Thursday, Feb. 26.

Doors at Idyl Wyld Roller Palace, 4013 S. Meridian St., open at 5:30 p.m. The party ends promptly at 7:30 p.m. 

You can buy tickets at the Kendall office for $1.50; they'll be $2 at the door. Skate rental is $2 on the night of the skating party.

Local veterans at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care Facility in Marion received an early Valentine’s Day surprise this week, as 300 homemade valentines were distributed as part of Bright House Networks’ and Marion Community School’s third annual Valentines for Veterans program.

Marion Community Schools periodically brings in educational programs for students aimed at helping them stay safe. One such program is the Body Safety program, which provides young people with age-appropriate information to empower them to take control of their own body and safety.

On Monday afternoon, Nov. 24, Kendall Elementary School was proactively placed into lockdown as police and administrators investigated an alleged threat.

Kendall has a special Reading Counts reading incentive going on now through spring!

Beginning Nov. 1, 2014, through March 1, 2015, students earn a "base" for every 50,000 words read.

Students earning all bases (reading a total of 200,000 words) will attend a TinCaps ballgame at 11 a.m Tuesday, April 14.

Words read will be tracked through the Reading Counts program. Words read tallies will end on March 16, 2015.

As the busy holiday season approaches, make sure you mark your calendars for our upcoming Christmas and holiday programs!

All of Kendall's programs will be on Tuesday, Dec. 16. The times for each grade level are:
  • Kindergarten: 8:30 a.m.
  • First Grade: 9:30 a.m.
  • Second Grade: noon
  • Third Grade: 10:30 a.m.
  • Fourth Grade: 1 p.m.

Kendall Elementary School will host the Marion High School JROTC on Tuesday afternoon as the cadets will be conducting a special Veterans Day ceremony here.

Students’ family members who are veterans were invited to lunch at the school Tuesday, and afterward the JROTC will conduct the ceremony, starting at 1:30 p.m.

In addition, we're encouraging all of our students and staff to wear red, white, and blue to help celebrate this special day!

Children dressed up as princesses, monsters and in other costumes, walked the halls of Kendall Elementary School Thursday evening collecting candy from their teachers, many of whom were dressed in costume as well.

During October, students who save money through our VIA Credit Union student-operated branch can spin the wheel to win school supplies!

The student-operated branch is a cooperative educational program made possible through a partnership between VIA Credit Union and Marion Community Schools. The mission of the program is to help students learn about money and to establish money management skills.
