MARION — Three Marion elementary school students, along with another formerly attending school here, earned high honors in the annual Symphony in Color statewide art competition.

Zoe Stiles, a fourth-grader at Kendall Elementary School, and Annie Moore, a third-grader at Frances Slocum Elementary School, along with her former schoolmate, Joseph Sawyer, who has since moved from the area, all earned Gold Ribbons at the state level in the annual contest that blends symphonic music and visual arts.

Congratulations to Kendall fourth-grader Jinwon Pae, who tied for runner-up in the Grant County Spelling Bee!

More than 70 students competed in the bee, held Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at College Wesleyan Church and sponsored by Indiana Wesleyan Church.

Red Ribbon Week encouraged Kendall Elementary School students to make positive, healthy choices and stay drug free.

Mr. Black led students in Character Education, while Mrs. Kleman planted Promise Tulips with students and engaged them in a Red Ribbon Week Pledge. 

Pictured below are fourth-grade students with Mrs. Kleman signing the "I Will Be Drug Free" Pledge, which will be displayed at Kendall to remind us all year to make those healthy choices!

Batman's infamous sidekick Robin, recently visited Kendall Elementary!  Because of the "Super Heroic Attendance" rate, the following classes were rewarded by a Superhero.  Robin visited Mrs. Palmer's kindergarten class, Mrs. Norris's 1st grade class, and Mrs. Crouch's 2nd grade class.

Way to go, Colts! 

For the second month in a row, Kendall Elementary has earned the title of CHAMPION in the MCS attendance challenge! For the month of October, Kendall had the highest attendance rate of all the Marion elementaries and the intermediate school. Kendall also won for the month of September.
