A message from Dr. Lindsay:

Marion Giant families,

Our school leaders are actively preparing for Marion school campuses to reopen on July 6, 2020, in line with guidance from Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb and the Indiana Department of Education, along with local, state, and national health officials.

The health and safety of our community is our top priority, and important changes will be required for the year ahead. Flexibility and innovation will be more crucial than ever. It is essential that we continue to focus on relationships and empower learners to achieve their best.

We are looking forward to our July reopening and the start of the 2020-21 school year. We are prepared to meet the needs and preferences of our students and families. We understand that some of our families will want to continue our online or blended learning options, due to risk factors, family circumstances, or simple preference. We are preparing to expand our Giant Online Academy options to meet those needs. Click here for more details.

We are also excited to be preparing for our on-site student activities to resume. We are reviewing strategies designed to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, including cleaning protocols, facilities usage and distancing, and personal protective gear such as face masks.

As we prepare for re-opening schools, please know that you can connect with our principals and social workers so we can best support your family. You can find their email addresses here.

Our first day of school is still set for Aug. 5. (You can view the full school year calendar here.) We will continue to follow the guidance of local, state, and national health officials and will adapt and update as necessary. If the start date were to change for any reason, we would communicate that.

We love our students, and we love our families! We want us all to be safe and well. We look forward to July as we safely reopen and once again can connect face-to-face. To all returning Giants and to all of our new Giants, we can't wait to engage and connect with you, either on campus or through our Giant Online Academy.

Please stay connected with us. Please be safe, and please be well. Thank you for being a Marion CommUNITY Schools Giant by choice!
