Marion Community School of the Arts is offering a wide variety of summer programming for all ages in July, and enrollment is open. Camps are filling up fast, with opportunities to explore theatre, film, dance, and visual arts. CSA's teaching artists will bring introductory and intermediate level experiences, and lots of fun to 305 S. Adams St. in downtown Marion.
With a variety of options, including a Mad Tea Party for ages 5-8, where students will take an adventure to Wonderland with dance, crafts, and a whimsical tea party, CSA is excited to bring fun arts education opportunities to children and adults in Grant County to help beat the summer heat. Additional camps include Clay Camp, an introduction to ceramics for ages 6-12; Crafting Camp for ages 6-8; Creative Movement, an introduction to contemporary dance movement and improvisation; Street Hip Hop Dance, in which students will learn to breakdance and explore texture and musicality, for ages 12 and up; Drawing Camp, Art Media Exploration, An Introduction to Oil Painting, Contemporary Choreography Workshop, Summer Ballet Workouts, Intro to Viewpoints, and the always popular Film Camp introducing students age 13 and up to filmmaking while creating an original short film.
CSA is also offering a series of Theatre 101 Workshops created to introduce the basics of theatre making to the community through two-day sessions for ages 13 to adults. These sessions include Stage Makeup 101, Auditioning 101, Directing 101, and Stage Management 101. The Theatre 101 series is presented by CSA's Civic Theatre, and was created to equip future volunteers interested in participating in community theatre programming with the tools it takes to build a successful theatre production.
