Among the typical excitement of homecoming festivities this Friday at Marion High School, some elementary school students will be getting special recognition.

As part of Marion Community Schools’ September Attendance Challenge (in conjunction with a focus nationwide on school attendance), all four elementary schools – Allen, Frances Slocum, Kendall, and Riverview – along with Justice Intermediate School were issued a challenge: to come out on top in overall attendance percentage for the month.

The MHS Athletic Department generously offered free admission for students at the winning school to the homecoming game, and the students in attendance would also get special recognition at the game.

Kendall Elementary School students rose to the challenge and earned the prize. Several dozen of them plan to be at the game for the special ceremony this Friday, Oct. 11, 2013. The game starts at 7 p.m., and the recognition is expected to begin at 6:45 p.m.
