MHS freshman selected for IBA All-Region Honor Band

Publish Date: 10/25/2021

A Marion High School freshman band student has been selected to perform in the Indiana Bandmasters Association All-Region Honor Band.

Donald West, who plays the tuba, will be among the students in grades 7 through 9 from across the region who will play with this honor band at Marion High School's Walton Performing Arts Center, host to this year's event.

Students are recommended by their band directors and submit applications to be considered for the Honor Band. Applications from students across the region were evaluated to select members of this talented group. Selected musicians are now tasked with practicing the musical selections in preparation for the upcoming performance.

On Nov. 13, Honor Band members from around the region will gather to rehearse together for the first time. Then, on Sunday, Nov. 14, they will perform together at 4 p.m. here at Marion High School. This performance is open to the public.

Congratulations to Donald and all of the region's talented, hard-working students on this great accomplishment! The All-Region Honor Band is a great opportunity, and will give them a chance to learn and grow as musicians.
