The Marion Giant’s JROTC Rifle Marksmanship team battled a veteran team from Concordia High School on Wednesday evening to win their first match of the season. 

MHS Senior Josiah Hamilton turned in the highest score of 280 and led the Giants to victory over Concordia, 1079-1065. Teammate Levi Hofmann turned in perfect score of 100 in the prone position and finished in second place for the Giants.

There will be a free dental and vision clinic at McCulloch Junior High School, 3528 S. Washington St., on Sunday, Oct. 6, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (This is sponsored by an outside source, but we are providing the location for them to hold the event.) It is a walk-in clinic provided by licensed professionals for anyone wanting a free vision exam or dental care. They will also have glasses available for $10 pair if you choose from their frames. No ID or insurance verification is required.

The Marion High School JROTC Raider Team performed very well in their second competition of the season at Wayne High School, Dayton, Ohio. Following their strong third place finish two weeks prior at Eastern Kentucky University, the Giants racked up multiple top finishes in the various events to easily claim the first place finish overall in this regional match last weekend.

Marion High School’s state-of-the-art planetarium will put on a special show that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first human steps on the moon, which happened in the summer of 1969. Come learn about the history of humans and space travel — and the milestone that astronaut Neil Armstrong called “one giant leap for mankind”.

The public is invited to MHS for “To Go to the Moon and Back Safely”. The show will last approximately one hour. Showings will be as follows:

On Friday, Oct. 11, the Marion High School JROTC Giant Battalion will face physical and mental challenges at Marion’s Matter Park.

Nearly 160 cadets are expected to participate in competitive field day events hosted by representatives from the Marion Police and Fire departments, Grant County Sheriff’s Department, Ball State University ROTC, along with recruiters from the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, and the Indiana National Guard.

The Marching Giants invite you to view their 2019 field show for free right here at Marion High School!

The 2019 show is “Spirits of the Past” — an ode to the storied history of the Marion Marching Giants, and the tradition of Marion Giant Pride that is as strong as ever today!

The free community performance is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Marion High School’s Dick Lootens Stadium. The Marching Giants would like to invite all Marion Community families, staff, and the entire community to come out and enjoy the show!

A Marion High School student has been named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist, a prestigious designation earned only by about 1 percent of the 1.5 million students who apply each year. Two others earned the designation of "Commended Students" — a designation earned by only about 2 percent of applicants.

The Marion High School JROTC Raider Team performed very well in their first competition of the season at Eastern Kentucky University. Competing there against 26 other teams in this regional challenge, the Giants had much to prove given they were last year’s National Champions. They did not disappoint, earning a third place finish overall.

The JROTC cadets from Marion High School will host a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony on September 11, 2019, at the flagpole in front of Marion High School. 

This ceremony, planned and executed by the cadets, is designed to remember and honor those victims of the terrorist attacks on that dreadful day. It will begin at 8 a.m. and is open to the public.

Marion Community Schools social workers invite you to a special night of family fun at Culver's in Marion!

Dine to donate! A portion of your purchase of Culver's food and ice cream will go to MCS social workers, to help assist students with various needs.

There will also be face painting!

This special event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2019. We hope to see YOU there!
