The Marion High School and McCulloch Junior High School bands will present a band festival on Monday, March 4, and a joint choir concert on Friday, March 8.

Now is your chance to enjoy music from our award-winning musicians! Both shows will start at 6 p.m., and both will take place at the Walton Performing Arts Center at MHS, 750 W. 26th St. Both events are free and open to the public.

Marion High School graduate and MHS Arts Hall of Fame inductee Samuel Levi Jones will be featured in “Left of Center,” an exhibit of his art at the Indianapolis Museum of Arts at Newfields this spring and summer.

Marion High School JROTC Cadet Levi Hofmann shot his best score ever to earn fifth place in our region for the Army JROTC National Marksmanship Championship. His score placed him 26th in the nation when scores across all regional competitions were tallied.

Marion High School’s state-of-the-art planetarium will put on a special show that explores weather and climate, along with the local night sky in spring and summer.


The public is invited to MHS for “Supermoons and Seasons”. The show will last approximately one hour. Showings will be as follows:

Marion High School JROTC Cadet D.J. Smith continued his domination in drill competitions, winning the Purdue University competition for the second year in a row, earning an invitation to the National Championship.

Seven Marion High School seniors set a record for this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship. This high achieving group all earned grade point averages ranging from 4.21 to 4.96!  In total, the students were awarded $16,500 in scholarships for their post-high school educational plans.

Marion High School Black History Club has a musical treat for audiences this year at their annual play: “The Queen - A Tribute to Aretha Franklin”.

The play is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Walton Center at Marion High School.

The MHS Black History Club has put on a play every year since 1980. The play is the largest fundraiser of the year for the club, and proceeds help fund their annual spring college tour to historically black colleges and universities.
