Marion High School’s state-of-the-art planetarium will put on a special show that explores weather and climate, along with the local night sky in spring and summer.


The public is invited to MHS for “Supermoons and Seasons”. The show will last approximately one hour. Showings will be as follows:

Marion High School JROTC Cadet D.J. Smith continued his domination in drill competitions, winning the Purdue University competition for the second year in a row, earning an invitation to the National Championship.

Seven Marion High School seniors set a record for this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship. This high achieving group all earned grade point averages ranging from 4.21 to 4.96!  In total, the students were awarded $16,500 in scholarships for their post-high school educational plans.

Marion High School Black History Club has a musical treat for audiences this year at their annual play: “The Queen - A Tribute to Aretha Franklin”.

The play is set for 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Walton Center at Marion High School.

The MHS Black History Club has put on a play every year since 1980. The play is the largest fundraiser of the year for the club, and proceeds help fund their annual spring college tour to historically black colleges and universities.

Due to the cancellation of classes on January 30 and 31 because of dangerous wind chill temperatures, the last day for students will now be on Tuesday, May 28. Please make a note on your calendars!

(Monday, May 27, is Memorial Day, so there will be no classes that day.)

Due to the extreme cold temperatures headed our way, the schedule for the girls basketball Class 3A Norwell sectional has been changed. 

The first game between Norwell and Bellmont will be played at 6 p.m. tonight (Tuesday, 1/29).

Marion's first-round game against Bishop Luers has been moved to 6 p.m. Friday. The Columbia City-Mississinewa game will follow at 7:30 p.m.

The semi-final games will be played on Saturday. Heritage will face the winner of Game 1 at 6 p.m., and the winners of Game 2 and Game 3 will play at 7:30 p.m.

A Marion High School student recently earned a national award in the annual Scholastic Art and Writing competition.

Hailey Teeguarden, an MHS senior, earned a Silver Award in the drawing / illustration category at national level competition for her portrait, "Halsey", seen below.

As part of a leadership class, 10 JROTC cadets from Marion High School recently traveled to Gettysburg Battlefield National Park where they had the opportunity to undertake a military-style staff ride, a learning experience rarely available to the average high school student.
