The Marion Regional Career Center's Aviation Academy will be featured on Inside INdiana Business this weekend!

Student Emma Jacobs and teacher Scott Simpson were interviewed in studio in Indianapolis, and a camera crew also came to Marion to capture scenes from classes earlier this week.

The Vopro Expo presented by Marion High School and Marion Regional Career Center aims to link students with careers in the Marion and Grant County area and to help them plan ahead for education in high school and beyond, certifications or apprenticeships, etc. 

Vopro Expo, set for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 at MHS's Bill Green Arena aims to help our students understand they can have a great career right here in Marion and Grant County, and that they can step toward those careers right now at MHS and MRCC.

The Army JROTC program from Marion High School sent their Raider Team to Anderson Saturday to battle against seven Navy JROTC programs from across the state. All the teams faced a series of physically challenging events that required problem solving and teamwork. But at the end of the day, Marion’s Army JROTC was standing victoriously on the high ground while the Navy units were left sinking on the shoals.

Marion High School Army JROTC Rifle Marksmanship Team defeated Bethel Air Force JROTC from Spanaway, Wash., 1435.9 to 1402.9 last week in the National Air Rifle League. With the win, Marion AJROTC is in fourth place overall and fourth place within their conference. They currently have a 2-0 record. Marion AJROTC was led by Josiah Hamilton, who shot a 378.0. The remaining contributing members were Levi Hofmann, Jaron Hofmann, and Abigail Baird. They are coached by MHS Senior Army Instructor Lt. Col. David Farlow.

MCS holiday card contest 2019

Marion Community Schools is seeking artwork for its annual holiday cards. This competition is open to all Marion Community Schools students (including Marion Regional Career Center). Winning artists receive a $75 Walmart gift card!

The Marion Giant’s JROTC Rifle Marksmanship team battled a veteran team from Concordia High School on Wednesday evening to win their first match of the season. 

MHS Senior Josiah Hamilton turned in the highest score of 280 and led the Giants to victory over Concordia, 1079-1065. Teammate Levi Hofmann turned in perfect score of 100 in the prone position and finished in second place for the Giants.

There will be a free dental and vision clinic at McCulloch Junior High School, 3528 S. Washington St., on Sunday, Oct. 6, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (This is sponsored by an outside source, but we are providing the location for them to hold the event.) It is a walk-in clinic provided by licensed professionals for anyone wanting a free vision exam or dental care. They will also have glasses available for $10 pair if you choose from their frames. No ID or insurance verification is required.

The Marion High School JROTC Raider Team performed very well in their second competition of the season at Wayne High School, Dayton, Ohio. Following their strong third place finish two weeks prior at Eastern Kentucky University, the Giants racked up multiple top finishes in the various events to easily claim the first place finish overall in this regional match last weekend.

Marion High School’s state-of-the-art planetarium will put on a special show that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first human steps on the moon, which happened in the summer of 1969. Come learn about the history of humans and space travel — and the milestone that astronaut Neil Armstrong called “one giant leap for mankind”.

The public is invited to MHS for “To Go to the Moon and Back Safely”. The show will last approximately one hour. Showings will be as follows:
