Five Marion High School band students have been selected to perform in the Indiana Jazz Educators Association All-District Jazz Honor Band.

For two of these students, this is the second honor band they’ve been selected to this year. For two others, it’s the second honor band selection this year.

“We’ve more than doubled our representation from last year in the IJEA Honor Band, reflecting our students’ continued hard work. We are so proud of our talented students for this achievement,” said MHS Director of Bands Josh Huff.

The Marion High School JROTC is undefeated so far in their season in the Orion National Air Rifle League at 4-0, after an upset win and their highest score of the season.

The Giants are ninth overall in the league’s Junior Rifle Club Precision Distinguished Division, and sixth within their JROTC conference.

The Marion High School JROTC Raiders continued their winning season in Hobart on Saturday by defeating teams from Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana in a regional competition. The MHS cadets have now defeated all 57 teams they have faced in four regional competitions.

The Giants head to the Indiana JROTC Raider State Championship in Indianapolis on Saturday, and they’re hoping to extend their undefeated season.

Eight Marion High School band students have been selected to perform in the Indiana Bandmasters Association All-District Honor Band.

This is the second year in a row that eight MHS students have been selected for this honor.

Marion High School JROTC recently completed a promotion board for cadets seeking to advance in the ranks to either sergeant or staff sergeant. At the conclusion, senior Anyssa Shultz was recognized as the best cadet to appear before the board.

The Marion High School JROTC Raider Team lengthened the list of teams they have defeated to 28 this past Saturday as they earned victory at the Blackford High School Raider Challenge. Continuing their undefeated season, the Giants bested nine other teams from Kentucky and Indiana as they continue their march toward the JROTC Raider State Championship later this month.

The Marion High School JROTC hosted their fall biathlon on Saturday. Thirteen teams competed in the running and marksmanship event. The Marion teams earned multiple top finishes, including first place in the male category.

UPDATE!

The MHS Key Club is pleased to announce that the MHS Caring Closet will be opening earlier than planned!

Thanks to the generosity of community members, staff, and students, the Caring Closet is well stocked and ready to go.

Any Marion High School student in need of personal hygiene products or who lacks food on the weekends because s/he depends on school breakfast and lunch can access the Caring Closet supplies in Room 2-46 before school, after school, or during periods 5-7.

The Marion High School JROTC will host its annual Biathlon this Saturday, Sept. 29. Sixteen teams representing Ben Davis and Hobart High Schools, along with our Giants, will compete in the running and marksmanship event.
