The Community School of the Arts is excited to present The Lion King Jr. at 7 p.m. Feb. 1 and 2 and 2 p.m. Feb. 3 at the F. Ritchie Walton Performing Arts Center at Marion High School, 750 W. 26th St.

The African savanna comes to life on stage with Simba, Rafiki, and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle and back again in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale based on the classic Disney film.

Friday evening, Marion Community Schools became aware of inappropriate conduct of a high school staff member, and our administrators immediately addressed the issue. The person involved is no longer employed by MCS.

At Marion Community Schools, we are committed to a safe, orderly, and healthy learning environment for all students and stakeholders. Our intent is to create and perpetuate a student-friendly, student-centered culture, that prepares our students to become the best they can be in lifelong service to others.

Marion Community Schools is pleased to announce that Little Giants Preschool Director Kerri Wortinger has been appointed to the Indiana Early Learning Advisory Council.

ELAC works to ensure that children ages birth to 8 years and their families have access to affordable, high-quality early childhood education programs that keep children health, safe, and learning.

Tackling challenging academic material sometimes pays off in intangible ways, such as improved critical thinking skills and better preparation for college-level workloads. But for several Marion High School students, the reward was literal: a total of $5,900 cash in hand from the AP-TIP IN program was distributed recently.

A prominent structure at a high-traffic entry point into the city has a new owner, bringing new possibilities.

At Tuesday night’s meeting, the Marion Community Schools Board of School Trustees approved the sale of the former Tucker Vocational School property, at the corner of Ind. 18 East and Pennsylvania Street, to Indiana Wesleyan University.
