Publish Date: 07/31/2019

Dear students, parents, and staff,

I am so excited and honored to announce to you all that I will stepping into the role of Principal at Riverview Elementary School. I am fortunate to have been mentored by Mr. Schwartz for the past three years, and plan to follow in his footsteps, continuing our positive culture and academic success. I look forward to working with our students, families and educators to make this the best school year yet. I am proud to be part of the Giant family and to raise my own kids in this community that is full of opportunities through Marion Community Schools.

The past three years, I have had the pleasure of getting to know hundreds of students and their individual needs. I plan to use that to continue our schoolwide mission. Riverview Elementary School is a place where all students are encouraged to strive for excellence academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe and supportive atmosphere. Our goal is to work in partnership with our parents and community to create an environment where students are empowered to discover their strengths and achieve their maximum potential. Opportunities are available for enrichment, intervention, and remediation as necessary. We set high expectations for all students. Our entire school community shares the belief that all children can and will learn.

I would like to welcome our new assistant principal Amanda Bradford. Ms. Bradford is a Marion High School graduate of 2001. She comes to us with valuable experience in education. She started her career as a 4th grade teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina. While teaching, she completed the National Board Certification process in 2010. In 2012, she moved to Greenfield, Indiana, and has served the Greenfield-Central Community school district as a Literacy Coach, Dean of Students, and Title I/ELL/PBIS District Coordinator. Ms. Bradford is excited to join the Riverview Elementary and Marion Community Schools family and serve the community that instilled a love of education in her.

We would like to welcome you back to the 2019-20 school year, when we will accomplish GIANT success. Online registration is currently open. If you have not already completed it for your student(s), please do so as soon as possible! (If you need help, call 662-2546 x. 122.)

We look forward to seeing you all at our Back to School Open House on Tuesday, August 6th from 5-6:30 pm. At our open house, you and your child will be able to meet their teacher and explore the school and their classroom.

Once again, welcome back! Let’s make is another great year in the Giant Nation.

Sincerely,

Ashlee Dixon

Riverview Elementary Principal
