Frances Slocum Elementary students, staff, and families will take the stage for a special talent show later this week.

The Talent in the City event, which will support the France Slocum Sounds of Hope choir and their Dream Tour to New York City, is set from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at College Wesleyan Church, 200 E. 38th St. 

The Sounds of Hope choir was an outgrowth of the Kids Hope USA partnership between College Wesleyan Church and Frances Slocum Elementary School.

During our recent Slocum Celebration, our students who have been on their best behavior got to cut loose and DANCE!

We are so grateful to Faith In Motion dance school for coming and showing our students some Zumba moves. It was a great day!

Frances Slocum students who have been on their best behavior have an awesome opportunity coming up:

Faith in Motion Dance Studio is coming to our school for the next Slocum Celebration, and students who have had ZERO behavior referrals, NO missing assignments, and fewer than four tardies will be able to take part in a fun Zumba workout with FIM!

Frances Slocum students who have been on their best behavior since the beginning of the school year will get an exciting opportunity next month: the chance to spend time playing football with the Taylor University team and getting some fun hands-on lessons about the skills used in the game!

Frances Slocum Elementary School has earned recognition from a national education organization, thanks to a nomination by Taylor University.

The Indiana chapter of the Association of Teacher Educators selected Frances Slocum as an Outstanding Successful School. The school will be honored at the group's upcoming fall conference.

Two Marion Community Schools elementaries are having a friendly competition to benefit neighbors in need.

Frances Slocum and Allen elementary schools are having family Valentine’s dances next week, and admission will be a canned or shelf-stable food item, to be donated to local food pantries. The schools are competing to see who can bring in the most donations.
