Marion Community Schools is pleased to announce that Ashlee Dixon is stepping into the role of principal at Riverview Elementary School.
Dixon has served as assistant principal at Riverview Elementary for three years, under the outstanding leadership of Lendon Schwartz.
"In the six years I have known Ashlee Dixon, as a teacher and then as assistant principal at Riverview, I have appreciated her positive, all-win commitment to our students, families, and staff, and to our Marion Community Schools mission," MCS Superintendent Brad Lindsay said.
Dixon, a Marion High School graduate, started as a professional educator at MCS in 2011, and served in teacher and leadership roles at various Marion school buildings before moving into the assistant principal role at Riverview in 2016. Her new assignment as principal was approved by the Marion School Board at its July 9 regular meeting.
"I'm excited to carry on the culture that Mr. Schwartz and I, along with our Riverview staff and families, have created for our students. It is a pleasure to have learned from someone who truly loves our kids and wants the best for them," Dixon said. "I look forward to working with our students, families and educators to make this the best school year yet. Not only am I a Giant by choice, but it's in my blood! Giants fight, never die. I am proud to be part of the Giant family and to raise my own kids in this community that is full of opportunities through Marion Community Schools."
Dixon will immediately step into this role and help provide a smooth transition.
"Ashlee has built positive relationships with staff, students, and families at Riverview Elementary, and she is actively invested in the community of Marion," Lindsay said. "Throughout the last three years she has learned and grown significantly as assistant principal under the outstanding mentorship of Principal Lendon Schwartz. Principal Dixon is ready to take the leadership baton and continue the upward climb at Riverview, which has consistently been an Indiana Department of Education A-rated school."
MCS is also pleased to welcome Amanda Bradford as assistant principal at Riverview.
Bradford is a Marion High School graduate of 2001. She comes to us with valuable experience in education. Bradford started her career as a fourth grade teacher in Charlotte, N.C. While teaching, she completed the National Board Certification process in 2010. In 2012, she moved to Greenfield, Ind., and has served the Greenfield-Central Community school district as a Literacy Coach, Dean of Students, and Title 1/ELL/PBIS District Coordinator.
“I am excited to join the Riverview Elementary and Marion Community Schools family and serve the community that instilled a love of education in me.” Bradford said.
Marion Community Schools is grateful to Lendon Schwartz for his time and dedication to Riverview Elementary over the past several years, and for building a foundation and culture of high expectations and motivation for success. We look forward to a bright future with Principal Dixon! We believe our best is yet to come for Riverview Elementary and Marion Community Schools.
