YOU'RE INVITED: Watch the MHS Marching Giants for FREE on 8/5!

Publish Date: 07/28/2021

The Marching Giants are off to a great start on the Central Indiana Track Show Association (CITSA) summer competition circuit, with one top 10 award already in hand. Now YOU have the opportunity to watch their award-winning field show “To The Summit” for free right here at Marion High School!

The free community show is set for 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 5, at Dick Lootens Stadium. The Marching Giants would like to invite all Marion Community Schools families, staff, and the entire community to come out and enjoy the show!

This is the Giants’ first year back on the full CITSA circuit in many years. (From 2014 to 2019, the Giants competed in the fall field show circuit. In 2020, the marching season was canceled due to COVID-19.)

This community show is a chance for the band to say THANK YOU to the whole community, and to present a unique art form for your enjoyment. All other opportunities to see this show involve an admission price (either at a home football game or at a marching competition around the state). But every year, the Marching Giants put on a special performance so that the hometown crowd can watch and enjoy the show for free. We hope to see you there!

State Fair Band Day

The day after this year’s free community show, on Aug. 6, they will compete at this year’s State Fair Band Day, the culminating competition of the CITSA circuit.

If you plan to attend the Indiana State Fair, Band Day is a great day to go! If you’d like to cheer on the Marching Giants at Band Day, they are scheduled to compete in the preliminary round at 11:39 a.m. at the Indiana State Fairground in Indianapolis. The top 16 scoring bands from the preliminary round return for the finals in the evening to compete for the State Championship. More information about the State Fair is available online at

This will be the Giants’ second Band Day appearance in a row, and their 17th overall. Decades ago, the Giants were a regular feature at State Fair Band Day, reaching the Top Sixteen six times, and earning the title of Runner-Up in 1968 and State Champion in 1969.

We’d love to see the Giant Nation out to support our Marching Giants at this year’s State Fair!
