Head Start to help kids, families prep for kindergarten

Posted: by Patricia Gibson, Communications Director
A Marion Community Schools Head Start event this week will help its students who will attend kindergarten next school year and their families get a jump on that transition.

MCS Head Start’s kindergarten readiness event, “Down on the Farm: ABCs and 123s”, is an opportunity for parents and guardians to get information about Marion Community Schools and expectations at the kindergarten level, including the MCS dress code. A kindergarten teacher from Frances Slocum Elementary School will be speaking with parents.

The event will also offer the chance for parents and guardians to work together with their students on various fun activities that they can do over the summer to continue to prepare for kindergarten.

Both the a.m. and p.m. class sessions at Marion Early Childhood Center, located inside Tucker Career and Technology Center, 107 S. Pennsylvania Ave., will take part in the kindergarten readiness event. It will ben on Friday, April 19, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. for the morning class session, and 12:30 p.m. for the afternoon class session.
