Marion Community Schools Superintendent Keith Burke has informed the Marion School Board that he will be leaving the district in order to pursue a new opportunity that better fits his family’s needs.
There will be a public reception in Mr. Burke’s honor from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, in the library at Marion High School. Please enter at Door 1.
“This decision was not made lightly,” Burke said. “After much reflection, I have decided to pursue a new opportunity that will allow me to be with my wife and be more physically supportive with her and her health issues. While I am excited about the future, I will deeply miss the daily interactions and the collaborative spirit that define Marion Community Schools.”
He has submitted his resignation, effective Jan. 3.
The School Board has begun the process of planning for next steps.
“In the coming weeks, I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition and will do everything I can to support the district during this time,” Burke said.
He expressed gratitude for his 10 and half years at MCS, since 2014 when he was hired to be the next principal of Marion High School, and including his three years as superintendent.
“Serving this community has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I am immensely proud of the progress we have made together, and I cherish the relationships I’ve built with our dedicated staff, students, and families. I am confident that the future of Marion Community Schools is bright, and I look forward to witnessing its continued success.”
Marion Community Schools is grateful to Mr. Burke for his leadership here and wishes him continued success in his future endeavors.
