Marion Community Schools is pleased to announce its new Curriculum Director for grades kindergarten through eight: Rianne Aguilar.
Aguilar has been Principal of Frances Slocum Elementary School since 2020. During her years there, she has led the school to significant growth, implementing a systematic approach to teaching and learning. To her new role she brings expertise in curriculum development, data analysis, professional development, parent involvement, and more.
Marion Community Schools Superintendent Stephanie Lockwood said Aguilar will be an invaluable addition to the District Office staff.
“Rianne Aguilar’s work in the last several years as a school leader and a strong member of our elementary administrative team will be a great foundation to work from as we continue to build on the successes of the past few years,” Lockwood said.
Aguilar said she is looking forward to this new opportunity.
“I have been privileged to work with some of the most dedicated professionals in the education field here at Marion Community Schools,” she said. “I am excited to broaden my work to support our outstanding administrators and teachers in our elementary, intermediate, and junior high levels. Working together in focused and strategic ways, we know we can meet the challenges.”
Aguilar started at Marion Community Schools in 2013 as a special education teacher at Allen Elementary School. She joined Frances Slocum Elementary as Assistant Principal in 2018, and then moved up into the role of Principal in 2020.
She is a Marion native and a proud Marion High School graduate. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education from Grace College, and her master’s degree in school administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.
The search for the next principal of Frances Slocum Elementary School begins immediately.
“We are committed to maintaining the successful teamwork and high standards in place at Frances Slocum Elementary,” Lockwood said. “We are so proud of the work that has been done there in the past several years. We will be looking for the next leader to help us continue to grow.”
