Grant Regional Career Center will host their inaugural Public Safety Day later this month.
High school students from around the region have been invited to explore public safety careers at GRCC. During the event, set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 24, students will have the opportunity to connect with local law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, and other public safety professionals.
The event will include:
- Live demonstrations
- Hands-on showcases of vehicles and equipment, including K-9 units, drones, and more
- Q&A connections with first responders who serve our community
- CTE pathway guidance
- And more!
Partner organizations scheduled to attend include a wide range of local agencies, including police, fire, medics, emergency management, dispatch, and forensic units, as well as Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Indiana Department of Corrections, and the U.S. Marshals Service. Grant Regional Career Center is grateful to our community partners for making this experience possible and for inspiring the next generation of public safety leaders.
Students in grades 9 through 12 with an interest in criminal justice, emergency services, or related CTE pathways are welcome to attend. Schools are asked to RSVP for the event by Sept. 19. For more information, contact GRCC at 765-664-9091.
For those local to the area and those with students who attend GRCC or Marion High School, please note that there will be marked traffic changes in our parking lots on Sept. 24 to make way for this event. In addition, there will be many emergency vehicles stationed in our lots for this pre-planned event. We are noting this now so as not to create concern or speculation on the day of the event about an emergency or safety issue.
