CSA Theatre Company's 10th annual shorts festival to feature several MCS students!

Several CSA Arts Academy students will be featured in an upcoming CSA Theatre compANY show.

The CSA Theatre compANY will present their 10th annual shorts festival, this year titled Step Through a Story, at 7 p.m. Jan. 30 and 31, and 2 p.m. Feb. 1 at the James Dean Memorial Theater at the CSA Civic Theatre building, 509 S. Washington St., Marion.

Every picture is a story — an invitation to step into a captured moment in time. This year’s Festival of Shorts welcomes you to wander through a gallery of powerful moments, with each scene, one-act, song, and monologue bringing a vivid portrait of the human experience to life. Step Through a Story will explore the human experience through several short scenes from various shows. Whether reaching for dreams, escaping the past, or finding footing in the present, our performers invite you to cross the frame and explore what it means to rise, fall, and keep moving forward — one story at a time.

Marion Community School of the Arts invites all of Grant County to join in for an unforgettable evening of live theatre and music that will leave you smiling long after the curtain falls.

Tickets can be purchased at www.csa-marion.com or in person at CSA, 305 S. Adams Street, Marion, Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets will also be available at the door beginning one hour before showtime. Doors open 30 minutes before showtime for seating.

The CSA Theatre compANY features performers from around the county who are participating in rigorous pre-professional training in acting and vocal technique, dance, theatrical design and production, and more. More about CSA Theatre compANY and the CSA Arts Academy

CSA Theatre compANY provides students with hands-on experience both on stage and behind the scenes. From performance to theatre production and design, the Theatre compANY program helps students develop the skills and confidence to succeed in all aspects of theatre. In addition to top-tier training, the Theatre compANY stages three to four full-scale productions each season, providing thought-provoking and engaging theatrical experiences that inspire and connect audiences of all ages in our community. All CSA students in grades 7-12 also have the opportunity to enroll in the CSA Arts Academy program, an exclusive partnership between Marion Community Schools and CSA that provides pre-professional arts training along with the benefits of a traditional public school. Alumni of the CSA Arts Academy, which was established in 2016, have continued their arts training at various well-known post-secondary schools, including The Julliard School, AMDA, UNCSA, Belmont University, Millikin University, and more, including prestigious art programs at Indiana schools including Ball State University, Indiana University, and others. Many of the Arts Academy students also earned accolades at last year's prestigious International Thespian Excellence Awards (Thespys for short), recognizing the highest level of achievement in school theatre performance. They will be returning to competition this year at the Indiana Thespians State Conference, set for Jan. 23-25. Several of their Thespy competition pieces will be featured in the Step Through a Story shorts festival!

(Note: Neither Marion Community Schools enrollment nor Arts Academy enrollment is required for participation in Theatre compANY, but we believe the innovative partnership provides excellent opportunities for any student looking to take their arts training to the next level!)
