Grant Regional Career Center is excited to be a recipient of a Huhtamaki Foundation grant of $20,000 to support their advanced manufacturing program.
Huhtamaki, which operates a manufacturing facility in Marion that produces paper goods, supports community initiatives and organizations through their foundation.
“Huhtamaki supports community initiatives and organizations to organizations that make a positive impact in the communities where we operate,” said Jamie Huller, plant manager for Huhtamaki in Marion.
This year, the foundation chose to support GRCC’s advanced manufacturing program with a $20,000 donation.
“Jamie Huller, Huhtamaki in Marion, and the Huhtamaki Foundation continue to be tremendous supporters of Grant County and Grant Regional Career Center,” GRCC Director Nathan McNeely said. “This donation will allow GRCC to take additional strides to provide the best training opportunities for learners of all ages.”
This donation will assist in upgrading GRCC facilities to offer students training on updated equipment.
“The GRCC advanced manufacturing program is helping to change the stigma that work in manufacturing is dark and dirty,” McNeely said. “These are in-demand, future-focused jobs that can be great opportunities for our community.”
In addition, the funds will help support the development of youth camp programming, which will boost interest in the trades in general and advanced manufacturing specifically.
“This will help us spread awareness of these great opportunities earlier, so students are well-informed and can take advantage of GRCC programming when they are in high school,” McNeely said.
This donation was facilitated by a pass-through fund administered by Marion High School Alumni Association, and GRCC is beyond grateful for this incredible support from our community.
This gift will be publicly presented during the Marion High School boys basketball game on Feb. 20 at Marion High School, and Huhtamaki has provided additional donated products as prizes for fans at the game. Marion Community Schools is grateful for the community support that helps us provide excellent opportunities for students.
